frequently asked questions
What can I expect from a consult call?
Consult calls are a brief 10-minute call to get to know each other and see if we are a good fit. It is a chance for you to ask questions and get a sense of how I practice. Consult calls are helpful guides so that you find your best fit before investing your time. If I think your needs are outside of my scope of practice then I will refer you to other services or clinicians.
How long are sessions?
Individual counselling sessions are 55 minutes long. I also offer 85-minute sessions if you feel you need a longer session.
What is your availability?
Currently you can find me in the office or online Monday to Thursday 10am to 5pm, and 10am to 2pm on Fridays. I occasionally offer time slots outside of these hours, please inquire for more info. I do not offer sessions on weekends.
What does RCC stand for?
RCC stands for Registered Clinical Counsellor. RCCs have met specific educational and training standards set by the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). BCACC requires members to have completed a Master’s degree and a set number of supervised clinical hours. RCCs are also required to practice under a set of ethical conducts and standards of practice.
Do you take insurance or offer direct billing?
Many extended health plans cover Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC). Check with your provider to confirm coverage. I do not offer direct billing; however, you will receive an email with your receipt to submit for reimbursement.
What are your fees?
Individual counselling – 55-minute session: $150 / 85-minute session: $225
Do you offer sliding scale or low-fee options?
I offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots, please reach out for availability.
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is where we begin to get to know each other. We begin to explore your reasons for coming to counselling and all areas of your life impacting you today. We also begin to explore and define your goals for counselling, creating a path to move forward.
How many sessions will I need?
Everyone’s counselling journey is unique; some may require more or fewer sessions. The number of sessions varies depending on your circumstances, needs, and goals. Some clients often come for a period of time and then take breaks. Others may benefit from more consistent sessions and eventually tapering to maintenance sessions throughout the year. It is important to remember that healing is not linear and steps back do not mean you have lost your progress!
What locations do you see clients from?
At this time, I can only see clients living in British Columbia via telehealth and in person in Kelowna. In-person sessions are located in downtown Kelowna.
What is your cancellation policy?
Your appointment time is reserved just for you and therefore I require 24-hour notice of any cancellations. The full rate will be charged if 24-hour notice is not given. However, I know life can be unpredictable and exceptions may be made for illness or emergencies. If you need to cancel your appointment please contact me as soon as possible.
