a little more about me
Hi, I’m Lindsey! I recognize it can be helpful to know who you are sitting with when sharing intimate pieces of your life. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and have taken further education in various modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy, to offer a comprehensive approach.
Being drawn to understanding the intimate experiences of humans, people often describe me as sensitive, empathetic, validating, and a great listener. For these reasons, I was attracted to studying psychology. It wasn’t until I experienced a great loss that I sought out my own support through counselling. My loss and a passion for not wanting others to go through painful experiences alone led me to become a counsellor and build Lindsey McDonald Counselling. This loss has not only shaped who I am but also the ways in which I approach my practice. Painful experiences can’t be changed or erased, but they can be witnessed and supported.
My style of therapy is based on the values of authenticity, compassion, mutual trust, and respect, and I bring these into every session. I offer a laid-back, compassionate approach with a sprinkle of humor. You know yourself best, but sometimes our worries, stressors, and experiences can get in the way. I am here to walk alongside you on your journey towards wellness and coming back to yourself.
When I’m not in the office, you can find me at the beach, reading a good book, or sipping a chai latte from Deville Coffee.
